A Decade of Visualizing Discovery
Celebrating My Collaboration with Science Magazine at the AAAS Gallery Show

“Science and art belong to the whole world, and before they vanish the barriers of nationality.” – Goethe.
This quote beautifully captures the intersection of Science and art—a partnership that transcends boundaries to inspire and inform. This is more evident than in the AAAS Gallery show, “Invisible, Novel, and Complex: A Decade of Visualizing Science,” where the power of design and illustration takes center stage. Art in Science is more than decoration; it is a vital tool for communicating complex ideas, revealing the invisible, and sparking curiosity in minds around the globe. I am deeply honored to have my latest mosaic illustration created for the "Predicting Pathogenicity" special issue included in this retrospective exhibition, celebrating 10 years of visuals from Science magazine, which has long been a champion of blending artistry with discovery.
Over the years, I’ve collaborated with Science magazine, contributing covers and spreading illustrations that translate groundbreaking research into visually compelling narratives. My broader body of work with Science spans photomosaic, digital mosaic, and editorial illustration techniques, showcasing the power of art in communicating scientific discovery.

Highlighting My Collaboration with Science
One of the collaborations I am particularly proud of is the work I contributed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of human genome sequencing, which was featured in this Science article. The project brought together vivid visual storytelling and cutting-edge Science to commemorate one of the most transformative milestones in modern biology. Through my illustrations, I aimed to capture the magnitude of this achievement and its profound impact on humanity. Collaborating on such an iconic moment in Science was an honor, and I’m grateful to Science for allowing me to contribute to their legacy of excellence in communicating discovery.
Additionally, I’m happy to share that my work was highlighted in their feature on "Our Favorite Science Conceptual Illustrations of 2023", further underscoring the value of art in advancing scientific communication.
Science: A True and Constant Political Movement
Science is more than a publication—it’s a movement, a force of progress transcending borders, disciplines, and ideologies. It’s a constant, unwavering contributor to humanity, fostering collaboration and innovation. Science remains a unifying beacon of hope, curiosity, and truth in a divided world. Through my art, I’ve sought to play a small part in this larger mission, creating illustrations that make the invisible visible and translate complex ideas into forms that resonate with a broader audience.
A Decade of Visualizing the Invisible
The AAAS Gallery show is a testament to the power of art and design in advancing our understanding of Science. From bold editorial illustrations to intricate photomosaics, the exhibition showcases the evolution of scientific storytelling over the past ten years. It is thrilling to see my work displayed alongside other talented contributors who have redefined how we visualize the unknown.
This exhibition is not just a look back—it’s an invitation to continue pushing the boundaries of Science and art. My deepest thanks go to the editors, scientists, and artists at Science magazine, who made this collaboration possible. It is a true honor to be part of this movement.
