The Good Doctor: Farewell Season Artwork
I had the honor of collaborating with ABC Channel and The Good Doctor team to create the primary artwork for the farewell season of this beloved TV series. They commissioned me to produce a visual tribute to Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, the gifted autistic surgeon who has captivated viewers for six seasons. This project provided a rare opportunity for deep creative exploration, as I worked on multiple concepts over several months before arriving at the final artwork.
The Final Artwork
Here it is—the final piece used across The Good Doctor’s social media, official website, and major platforms like IMDb. This image became the face of the farewell season, celebrating Dr. Murphy’s journey and his growth as a character.
And here is the main video presenting the artwork in all "The Good Doctor" social media accounts. Further down you can find the main poster and the various graphic applications for the main website, the IMDB etc.
Concept Exploration
Before landing on the final design, I experimented with different artistic directions. The journey was full of exploration, reflecting the complexity of Dr. Murphy’s character and the emotional weight of the farewell season.
1. Surgical Tools Portrait
One of the initial ideas was a portrait of Dr. Murphy composed entirely of surgical tools, symbolizing his role as a surgeon and his unique connection to medicine. Although the team and I appreciated its symbolic depth, it lacked the visual impact and vibrancy necessary for a farewell tribute.

2. Mixed Media Portrait with Photos and Tools
Building on the tools concept, we experimented with blending surgical instruments and photographs from the series. This added depth and helped capture Freddie Highmore’s likeness more distinctly, but the result felt overly complex and didn’t resonate as intended for a mainstream audience.
3. Story Scene Collage
Next, we tried a rounded rectangle collage featuring various scenes from the series, evoking the different facets of Dr. Murphy’s journey. While the outcome was visually compelling, it raised new challenges in selecting the perfect angle and the central hero image. Additionally, I explored subtle background color variations to enhance the emotional tone, aiming for a more dramatic mood.

The Final Decision
Ultimately, we chose a composition that captured the essence of Dr. Murphy’s growth, focusing on a powerful moment of eye contact. Dr. Murphy looks directly at the viewer for the first time in six seasons, symbolizing his newfound confidence and acceptance. This decision created a deeply emotional connection for fans, embodying a pivotal moment in his journey.
